"Bravo Zulu" / October 1, 2015

Each week we celebrate the exploits of the exceptional men and women of your Navy from coast to coast.

We mark these outstanding achievements using the traditional naval signal for a job well done...

Bravo Zulu to the Pacific Region women’s soccer team for their victory at the Canadian Armed Forces Women’s National Soccer Championship held September 12-16, 2015 in Borden, Ontario.

It was a rocky start for the Pacific Region team as they dropped their first two matches in round-robin play to Quebec and Ontario, both by identical 2-0 scores. Despite two opening losses, the team rebounded strongly, ultimately taking the championships in a penalty-kick tiebreaker following a tough match against Quebec, who had beaten them earlier in the tournament.

“Our girls got better with every game,” said Pacific Region coach Sergeant Caleb Klimas.

Thanks to their determination and relentless effort, the Pacific Region women’s soccer team was able to cement their tournament victory, and hoist the Captain Nichola Goddard trophy. Goalkeeper, Second-Lieutenant Sam Behm, and midfielder, Captain Victoria Blakie, were named most valuable player for the Tournament and Pacific Region respectively.
